Dig Sessions are just an excuse to get out into the world, make friends, and document music. We are trying to capture all music, of all genres and musicianship levels. In our modern world of iPods and mp3s it is easy to forget that not so many years ago if you wanted to hear music you had to either play it yourself, or watch someone else play. That is the soul of The Dig Sessions, watching people play music. Single takes, no gimmicks. Just a microphone and a camera capturing REAL music with all its beautiful imperfections. View all
Welcome back to the Dig Sessions. We have another track from Milwaukee’s own Calamity Janes and the Fratney Street Band this morning. This track, entitled Dive in the Lake, was performed a cappella and features all six (6) of the group members lending their voices. The rhythm is held down by upright bass player Johanna Rose pounding a walking cane on the wooden floor.
If you haven’t had a chance to see the Calamity Janes play yet this Friday, April 4th 2014, they are playing a free show at Yield Bar in Milwaukee. Also on the bill is Dig Session alumni Myles Coyne, and the string-band Pay The Devil. It should be a great show.
We hope you are enjoying the Dig Sessions. Remember you can view all of them in one easy place at thosewhodig.net/dig-sessions.
